The recent disregard for a Magistrate’s order that ultimately led to the tragic murder of a young lady should not come as a surprise to any of us. There are far too many examples of lawlessness and corruption under the current government, and yet some choose to put on their red jerseys and say, “Give Irfaan one more time.”
We are living in an immoral society under this administration, and the situation is unlikely to improve. It is crucial that we pray for ourselves, our families, and our communities. This situation reminds me of the historical moment when we cried out, “Give us Barabbas.”
Some may recall when we criticized Granger’s government for being too “churchy.” It is the responsibility of the government to govern its citizens properly, as mandated by the Constitution. This current administration is failing our country.
Please do not tell me to avoid politics in discussing the young lady’s death. As a university-educated social scientist, I believe I have the authority to address these pressing issues. Our society deserves better, and we must hold our leaders accountable.
