Almost a week after the partially burnt body of Leon Baird, a well-known Rupununi tour guide, was found in a vehicle along the eastern bank of the Rupununi River, villagers and acquaintances are expressing dissatisfaction with the pace of the police investigations. Many believe Baird was murdered and are urging law enforcement to conduct a more thorough inquiry.

The police released an official statement today regarding the discovery of Baird’s charred remains, five days after the tragic finding.
