Concerns Raised Over Promised Infrastructure in Den Heuvel, Soesdyke

News

Residents of Den Heuvel, Soesdyke expressed their dissatisfaction during a recent visit by the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party, highlighting unfulfilled promises by the PPP government regarding infrastructure development. They had been assured of the construction of a main access road before the elections, a promise made during President Ali’s campaign in their community. However, the road has remained neglected for years.

While work on the road began in August, giving residents hope that their decade-long struggle with access would finally come to an end, the project was abruptly halted shortly after the elections. As a result, residents continue to rely on a makeshift dam for their main passage, a solution that has not sufficed for many years.

In addition to the road issues, the community has been deprived of a stable water supply for over ten years. Residents currently depend on water from a trench, and both previous administrations have failed to address this essential need. Children are forced to navigate through thick mud to reach school, while families struggle to secure clean drinking water.

WIN is calling on Mr. Kwame McCoy, the PPP representative for the East Bank, to take immediate responsibility for addressing these pressing concerns. They also urge Minister Juan Edghill to ensure that road construction resumes and is completed without delay. Furthermore, Minister Indar, who oversees utilities, is urged to take action to provide a reliable water supply to Den Heuvel and alleviate the struggles faced by its residents.
