Eric Orlando Arnold, known as ‘Ajay’, a 23-year-old construction worker from Phase 2, Good Hope, and Joshua Chowkai, known as ‘Jay’, a 25-year-old taxi driver from Mon Repos, were arrested on September 2, 2025, and subsequently charged with simple larceny.

The charges were brought forth by a rank from the Beterverwagting Police Station, with the offense occurring against Balram Manickram, in violation of Section 164 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 08:01.
Both accused appeared in Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court today before Her Worship Miss Abigail Gibbs, where they pleaded guilty to the charges. A settlement agreement was presented in court, leading to their sentencing.
Arnold and Chowkai were each sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for their involvement in the incident. This case underscores law enforcement’s commitment to addressing theft and related offenses in the community.
