Christopher John, a 27-year-old construction worker from Lima Sands, has been arrested and charged with several traffic-related offences following incidents that occurred on January 11, 2026, along the Anna Regina Public Road.

The charges include:
Refusing to Provide a Breath Specimen, contrary to Section 39B(5)
Breach of Insurance, contrary to Section 3(1)
Driving without a Licence, contrary to Section 23(1)
All the offences are in accordance with the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02.
John appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court on January 14, 2026, before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir. In court, he pleaded guilty to the charges of Breach of Insurance and Driving without a Licence, resulting in fines of $40,000 and $30,000 respectively. The fines come with default sentences of three months’ and two months’ imprisonment.
However, John pleaded not guilty to the charge of Refusing to Provide a Breath Specimen for a Breath Alcohol Test. He was granted bail in the sum of $200,000 for this charge.
The case has been adjourned to Tuesday, March 10, 2026, for further proceedings.
