Big Smith News Watch Reports : Terbhawan Ramjit, a 38-year-old contractor from Bath, West Coast Berbice, has been granted $250,000 bail after being charged with defrauding Nalini Ramcharan of over $1 million.
Ramjit pleaded not guilty in Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to the allegation that he took $1,030,000 from Ramcharan between June 1 and July 31, 2025, promising to secure three house lots he could not deliver.
His attorney stated that Ramjit has no prior convictions and is not a flight risk. The prosecution opposed bail, citing the seriousness of the charges and the amount involved.
Magistrate Annette Singh granted bail but required Ramjit to report to the Brickdam Police Station on the last Friday of each month. The case is set for a follow-up on September 26, 2025.
