Two Guyanese men, Wayne Corriea, 44, and Ramesh Pramdeo, 51, faced charges today in the Leonora Magistrates’ Court, accused of assisting Venezuelan suspects linked to the deadly bombing at the Mobil Gas Station on Regent Street. They appeared alongside 33-year-old Venezuelan national Jennifer Rodriguez before Magistrate Alisha George.

All three individuals are charged with terrorism for their alleged roles in the attack that resulted in the tragic death of six-year-old Soraya Boure. Corriea and Pramdeo were represented by Attorney Bernard DaSilva during the proceedings.

While the prosecution was expected to disclose evidence at today’s hearing, none was presented, leading to the adjournment of the case until December 17.

In a related case, the prime suspect, Venezuelan national Daniel Alexander Ramirez Poedemo, along with co-accused Alexander Bettencourt, 44, Johnny Boodram, 27, and Kystal LaCruz, 33, are facing similar terrorism charges in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The shocking bombing incident has prompted heightened security measures across the country, particularly focusing on the monitoring of foreign nationals, notably Venezuelans. Authorities have indicated that the suspects may have connections to the R Syndicato gang, a group known for attacking miners and other individuals in border areas with Venezuela.

CCTV footage reportedly captured Ramirez Poedemo planting two bags containing the suspected explosive device near cooking gas cylinders at the gas station, after he was initially prevented from placing them in a garbage receptacle. He was apprehended two days later in the village of Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo, following the circulation of his photographs by police. It is believed that his co-accused assisted him with surveillance and transportation to the site of the bombing.
