Nicholas Pooran has been appointed as the new captain of the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) ahead of the CPL 2025 season, succeeding Kieron Pollard, who has led the team since 2019.

“It means a lot to represent Trinbago Knight Riders. It is a privilege to lead this franchise,” Pooran stated, expressing his commitment to making sound decisions and embracing the responsibility passed down from Dwayne Bravo to Pollard.
Pooran, a prominent figure in the T20 circuit, made his CPL debut at 17 and has since accumulated 2,447 runs at a strike rate of 152.27 over 114 matches. He previously played for Barbados Royals and Guyana Amazon Warriors before rejoining TKR in 2022. He is also captain of MI New York in the MLC and MI Emirates in the ILT20.
Under Pollard’s leadership, TKR won their fourth CPL title in 2020 and achieved a record unbeaten season with 12 wins. Pollard emphasized the importance of grooming the next generation, noting that Pooran has been prepared for this leadership role.
“I’m happy to still be on the field and help Nicholas ease into this role,” Pollard said, highlighting Pooran’s understanding of TKR’s values and winning culture.
TKR will begin their CPL 2025 campaign against the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots on August 17.
