Crabwood Creek Man Remanded

Ramsarran Samaroo, a 22-year-old resident of Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice, has been charged in connection with the tragic hit-and-run death of eight-year-old Sahil Naipaul. The incident occurred on Tuesday, leading to serious legal repercussions for Samaroo.

Samaroo appeared before Magistrate Michelle Matthias at the Whim Magistrate’s Court, where he faced several charges. He was charged with driving motorcar PAK 6598 in a manner dangerous to the public, resulting in Naipaul’s death, to which he was not required to plead.

Additionally, Samaroo was charged with failing to stop after the accident and failing to render assistance to the injured boy. He pleaded not guilty to these charges.

Bail was denied, and Samaroo has been remanded to prison. The case has been transferred to the Springlands Magistrate’s Court, where it is scheduled to be heard again on September 4. The community mourns the loss of young Sahil Naipaul, and calls for justice are growing as the legal process unfolds.
