The Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) has raised concerns regarding the alarming trend of unauthorized use of the Guyana Flag by vessels not registered in the country.
In a recent communication, the Government of the United States notified MARAD about the Motor Tanker SKIPPER (formerly known as ADISA, IMO Number 9304667), which was found in international waters falsely flying the Guyana Flag. This vessel is not registered in Guyana.
MARAD has committed to collaborating with international partners and maritime agencies to identify and address any unauthorized use of the Guyana Flag. The agency emphasizes the importance of taking firm action against such practices to protect the integrity of Brazil’s maritime reputation
