At 58, David Persaud faces the daily challenges of diabetes, having endured severe complications including the amputation of his left foot and kidney failure. Despite these hardships, he remains resolute, stating, “Illness may have weakened my body, but it will never break my spirit, or my love for my family.”

For years, Mr. Persaud and his wife worked tirelessly to save for their dream of owning a home. However, when illness struck, their hard-earned savings were redirected to cover mounting medical bills and essential treatments. Today, the family resides in a small rented home, yet Mr. Persaud’s dedication to his loved ones remains unwavering.

“I continue to fight daily, not just for myself, but for those I love most,” he reflects, embodying the spirit of resilience. His gratitude extends to His Excellency Dr. Irfaan Ali, whose compassion and leadership inspire hope in families facing similar struggles.

Through the initiative “Men on Mission,” launched by President Dr. Ali, the government remains committed to uplifting vulnerable populations and ensuring that no Guyanese is left behind. Mr. Persaud’s story is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of community support.
