  • News

Morris Cameron, a 32-year-old man, has pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges after being apprehended with over 17 pounds of cocaine in Beterverwagting on the East Coast Demerara.

Cameron appeared in the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court this morning, where he opted to enter a guilty plea. The presiding Magistrate sentenced him to four years in prison and imposed a fine of $30,000.

Cameron was arrested during a Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) operation, where he was intercepted while carrying a bag containing several large parcels of cocaine. CANU has been actively conducting intelligence-led operations, resulting in multiple drug busts in recent months.
