Claud Howard, an elderly man, was sentenced to imprisonment after pleading guilty to a charge of unlawful wounding during an appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Howard stood before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty, charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding Terrence Grenada at Bourda Market on January 27, 2026.
The prosecution outlined that the incident stemmed from an argument between Howard and Grenada. During the confrontation, Howard reportedly struck Grenada several times with a stick before fleeing the scene. Authorities later arrested Howard.
In court, the prosecutor detailed the injuries sustained by Grenada, which included swelling around his eyes and scars on his face resulting from the assault.
After considering the facts of the case and Howard’s guilty plea, Acting Chief Magistrate McGusty imposed a fine of $20,000 or a six-week imprisonment sentence in default of payment.
