News Source Reports : ExxonMobil Guyana, now headquartered in Ogle, has announced that it and its contractors have spent over US$2.9 billion with Guyanese businesses since 2015, including US$419 million in the first half of this year with around 1,800 local vendors.

The company emphasized its commitment to local content development through investments in businesses, workforce training, and community initiatives. As of mid-2025, over 6,200 Guyanese are employed by ExxonMobil and its contractors, comprising 70% of the workforce, with one in three employees being women.
Alistair Routledge, President of ExxonMobil Guyana, stated, “Seeing more Guyanese take on key roles in the oil-and-gas industry is a clear sign that our commitment to capacity building is working.” The company reported that local employees have received over 370,000 hours of training in various areas.
ExxonMobil’s internship program is also proving successful, with five interns from the inaugural class hired by the company. The current program continues to provide career opportunities for young professionals.
This year marked a significant milestone with the launch of in-country fabrication services at the Vreed-en-Hoop Shore Base Inc. (VEHSI), enhancing local industrial capabilities. Additionally, ExxonMobil, along with its co-venturers and the government, will support the Guyana Technical Training College Inc. (GTTCI) as it prepares to train its first cohort of students starting in October 2025.
