Family Mourns Loss of Leon Sikandar in Tragic Three-Vehicle Collision

The family of Leon Sikandar is mourning his tragic death following a three-vehicle collision along the Rupert Craig Highway on Tuesday morning.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Leon’s sister, Angelina, confirmed the devastating news early Wednesday. “Yesterday, I got devastating news; our brother, through no fault of his own, was involved in a 3-vehicle accident. I saw the videos circulating… I saw him. I read the cruel comments too and every part of me wanted to respond. But I stayed quiet. I stayed hopeful,” she wrote.

Holding onto hope throughout the night, Angelina shared that she and her family prayed for good news. “But this morning, I woke up to the worst news of all… my brother passed away,” she lamented.

Leon leaves behind his “beautiful little boys,” his “loyal, loving wife,” devoted sisters, nieces, and “a circle of family and friends who will never forget him.” Described as a lively spirit and a “true prankster,” Angelina remembered her brother as someone who was “always laughing, always full of life.” She added, “Right now, all we want is to believe that this is one of his jokes, and at any moment, he’s going to pop out laughing. But this time, it’s real. And it hurts in ways I can’t explain.”

The fatal accident occurred near the University of Guyana Access Road on the East Coast Demerara. According to Police Headquarters, Leon was driving motor car #PMM 3778 when another vehicle, driven by Kamel Daniels, reportedly lost control, swerving over the median and crashing into Leon’s vehicle. This collision then involved a hire car driven by Neil Lewis.

All five individuals involved were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by public-spirited citizens. Police confirmed that Sikandar suffered a fractured right arm and was admitted but sadly succumbed to his injuries. The other drivers and passengers sustained various injuries but are reportedly in stable condition.

Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.

As family and friends grapple with this profound loss, tributes have flooded social media in memory of Leon Sikandar, who is remembered as a devoted father, husband, and brother whose laughter will be deeply missed.
