Family of Four Seeks Assistance After House Fire in Shieldstown
A family of four is urgently seeking help following the complete destruction of their home in Shieldstown, Berbice, on Sunday.

Jennifer Lanchan, 21, her husband Junior Nathaniel, a carpenter, and their two young children, aged two years and eight months, were living in a one-bedroom house located at Lot 108, Shieldstown, West Bank Berbice.
Jennifer recounted that at approximately 5:30 AM, while on her way to meet her husband nearby, she received the shocking news that their house was engulfed in flames.
Firefighters from the Region Five Fire Station promptly responded to the scene, successfully preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring properties. However, the devastation was profound, with Jennifer’s fully furnished home and all their belongings lost in the blaze.
She noted that just a few days prior, they had replaced a 1,000-watt transformer and is now uncertain if that might have contributed to the fire.
Junior Nathaniel expressed the emotional toll of the loss, stating, “I work so hard to buy everything, and now it’s all gone. I am asking for some assistance to rebuild.”
