Family Seeks Justice for 22-Year-Old Killed in Car Accident

  • News

I News Guyana Reports : The family of 22-year-old Emmanuel King Boodie, who was killed in a car accident near the Russian Embassy, is demanding justice. Boodie was struck late Friday night while crossing the road, and relatives are upset that the driver involved was released on bail shortly after the incident.

His mother, Shondell Boodie, reported that her son was missing for two nights before she learned of his death from a friend. She described him as quiet and withdrawn, and expressed her devastation over the loss.

The family claims the driver admitted to hitting Emmanuel but attempted to flee the scene before being stopped by bystanders. Boodie’s father, Darrell Junor, criticized the police for granting bail to the driver, asserting that it was unjust.

The family is now preparing to bury Emmanuel, who returned to Guyana last year and was not formally employed. They are struggling with the emotional and financial burden of the tragedy.
