Ramroop Sadaram, a 71-year-old pedestrian from Success, East Coast Demerara, tragically died late Friday night after being struck by a motor car on the Le Ressouvenir Public Road.

The accident occurred around 11:45 PM and involved motor car #PAB 9943, driven by a 48-year-old businessman from Good Hope, and motorcycle #CN 8838, ridden by a 27-year-old construction worker from Bachelor’s Adventure.
According to police reports, the motor car was traveling east in the northern driving lane when the driver claimed he heard a loud sound from a motorcycle. He looked in his mirror and felt a sudden impact to the front and rear of his vehicle. Upon stopping, he found Sadaram and the motorcyclist lying on the road, both with injuries.
Emergency Medical Technicians were called to the scene, where Sadaram was pronounced dead. The injured motorcyclist was conscious and transported to Georgetown Public Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the vehicle is currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation. A breathalyser test conducted on him returned readings of .017% and .019%.
