Police in Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), are investigating a tragic accident that occurred in the Essequibo River on Sunday night around 9:30 p.m. The incident has resulted in the deaths of two individuals, identified only as George and another person, with three others sustaining injuries.
The accident took place at Tuh Tuh Island Point Area and involved a wooden boat marked “Orvin & Sons.” According to Region Seven Commander Deon Moore, the boat was carrying several passengers at the time of the accident. Initially, two persons were reported missing; however, their bodies were recovered on Tuesday morning.
Three other passengers who were injured were promptly taken for medical attention. The police have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
