Fisherman Missing After Falling Into Pomeroon River

A 27-year-old fisherman has been reported missing and is believed to have drowned after falling into the Pomeroon River on Thursday.

Deodat Sarjoo, a resident of Bee Hive, East Coast Demerara, reportedly fell into the river around 11:15 AM near Manch Wharf, Charity Riverdam, Essequibo Coast. Preliminary investigations suggest that Sarjoo was working aboard a moored fishing vessel when he slipped and fell into the water.

Despite immediate searches of the area and its surroundings, Sarjoo has not yet been located. Rescue operations are ongoing, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The community remains hopeful for a positive resolution as searches continue.
