It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Dr. Rupert Roopnarine, former Leader of the Working People’s Alliance (WPA), who died early this morning.
Dr. Roopnarine served as Minister of Education and Minister of Public Service under the APNU+AFC Government but resigned from his position due to health issues. He was also a long-serving Member of Parliament, dedicating many years to public service and the betterment of Guyana.
His contributions to the nation and his commitment to education and public service will be remembered by many.
