Former MP Tabitha Sarabo-Halley Joins We Invest in Nationhood Party Ahead of Elections

  • News

In a significant political shift, former APNU+AFC Member of Parliament Tabitha Sarabo-Halley has joined the newly formed We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party, where she will stand as a candidate in the upcoming elections. Sarabo-Halley, who previously served as an Executive of the Working People’s Alliance, believes this move represents the best political choice at this time.

Speaking to News Source on Monday after WIN submitted its candidates’ list, Sarabo-Halley expressed her conviction that the people of Guyana are ready for a change. “People have made a choice; they recognize that what has been happening over the last fifty years cannot continue,” she stated. “They feel they aren’t getting what they deserve from the country they live in and grow up in. They want something different, which is why I have chosen to come over to this side.”

When asked about her perspective on the existing U.S. sanctions against WIN leader Azruddin Mohamed, she maintained that every individual has the right to define their political journey. “I am not concerned about the sanctions because I believe that Guyana is a sovereign country. The people have the right to determine who should lead them, and once that happens, we will deal with what comes next,” Sarabo-Halley noted.

She emphasized that her departure from the APNU was a personal decision driven by a strong belief that the people of Guyana need a shift in leadership. “Everyone has their own journey and must make decisions that are in their best interest and that of the people they serve. At this particular point in my life, I recognize that what the people need is something different from what has existed for a very long time,” she added.

The WIN party, led by businessman Azruddin Mohamed, is optimistic about making a significant impact in the upcoming elections. It is notable for being the only new party fielding candidates across all ten regions, aiming to resonate with voters seeking fresh alternatives. As the election date approaches, all eyes will be on how this new political entity shapes the electoral landscape in Guyana.
