Following a ruling by Chief Justice Ag Navindra Singh that dismissed the case brought against the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) by the Forward Guyana Movement (FGM), the party’s presidential candidate, Amanza Walton-Desir, announced plans to appeal the decision.

The FGM had challenged GECOM’s decision to exclude the party from the national ballot in three regions. In his ruling, Chief Justice Singh found the omission of the FGM symbol from the ballots to be completely lawful.
In addition to the dismissal, the Chief Justice imposed costs of $1 million each on the two respondents: Attorney General Anil Nandlall S.C. and GECOM.
Walton-Desir expressed her disappointment with the ruling but affirmed the party’s commitment to pursuing the appeal, stating that the fight for fair representation in the electoral process must continue.
