Four Individuals Remanded in Major Cocaine Bust

News

Four individuals have been remanded to prison following a significant drug operation that led to the seizure of 68 pounds of cocaine on Monday.

On Wednesday, Andre Moonilall and Sherwin Laundry appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court. Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of narcotics with the intent to traffic. Magistrate Nurse denied bail for the accused and ordered their remand until February 9, 2026.

In a separate hearing, Jermin Adams and Amanda Lam faced the same magistrate, where they too pleaded not guilty, this time to charges of aiding in the trafficking of cocaine. Like their counterparts, they were denied bail and remanded to prison until the same date.

According to the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU), the operation was conducted at Broad Street, Montrose ECD, based on information received. CANU officers intercepted a motor vehicle, and a subsequent search revealed 27 brick-like parcels, each containing cocaine.

The total weight of the seized narcotics was reported at 31.452 kilograms. Following the bust, Moonilall, Adams, Laundry, and Lam were arrested and transported to CANU Headquarters along with the illicit drugs.
