The incident occurred at approximately 14:50 hours and resulted in significant losses to both the business and a female patron who was present during the robbery.

According to preliminary reports, a 43-year-old vendor from Providence was at the establishment with her family making a purchase when two masked men, dressed in orange jumpsuits, approached the cashier’s area. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun.

The armed gunman ordered the cashier to step away from the register while his accomplice moved behind the counter and began systematically removing cash from the drawer, which he placed into a haversack. As the second suspect emptied the register, his armed partner stood guard over the operation.

During the ordeal, the gunman also relieved the 43-year-old woman of her purse and cellular phone, adding to her losses.

Investigations revealed that the robbery was part of a larger operation. After completing their theft upstairs, the two suspects moved downstairs where two additional accomplices were waiting on the ground floor. The four-man gang then made their escape, exiting the building and fleeing the scene on two black Honda XR motorcycles that bore no registration plates.

The group headed north along Diamond Public Road, leaving police and witnesses behind in their wake.

The business establishment was robbed of approximately $4.14 million in Guyana currency—a substantial sum that represents a significant financial blow to the entity.

The 43-year-old vendor’s personal losses were equally substantial:

A black purse valued at $5,000

$90,000 in cash

Personal identification documents, including her driver’s license, identification card, and bank card

Police have appealed for information and stated that investigations into the incident remain ongoing. Authorities are seeking to identify the four suspects and recover the stolen items and cash.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery or the whereabouts of the black Honda XR motorcycles is urged to contact the police.

Police investigations are continuing.
