The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) officially opened its Women in Aviation Conference on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, bringing together aviation leaders, professionals and stakeholders to advance women in the aviation sector.

Delivering the feature address, Hon. Deodat Indar, M.P., Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation, called for greater female participation in aviation. He said the Government of Guyana is committed to building an inclusive, modern, world-class aviation sector, with women playing a pivotal role in its development.
Minister Indar also highlighted the Government’s ongoing investment in aviation infrastructure, including:
construction of Terminal Two at Cheddi Jagan International Airport,
the establishment of a Civil Aviation School of Excellence, and
the construction of two new municipal airports.
Addressing the conference as well, GCAA Director General Lt. Col. (ret’d) Egbert Field A.A. reinforced that safety is the sector’s top priority. He added that aviation is stronger with women in key roles and encouraged women in attendance to aim for higher positions in the industry.
The conference will include panel discussions and networking to inspire and equip the next generation of female aviation professionals. It runs for two half days, ending on March 31, 2026.
