The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) is actively working to ensure that the results from the 2025 General and Regional Elections are announced as quickly as possible, according to Public Relations Officer Yolanda Ward.

Just a day before the elections, Chief Elections Officer Vishnu Persaud indicated that preliminary results could be available by the night of September 3, with an official declaration potentially following the next morning, provided there are no significant delays or requests for recounts. However, Ward refrained from committing to a specific timeline.
“We have committed to delivering those results within the shortest possible time, taking into account all of the legal provisions in place,” Ward stated, highlighting that requests for recounts could delay the announcement of results.
Ward urged the public to rely solely on information released by GECOM and to be cautious of external sources, such as social media pages claiming to have Statements of Poll (SOPs) from polling stations. GECOM has established an online gallery on its website that will be updated with SOPs as they are received.
“We want to ensure that this process is concluded in the shortest time possible,” she affirmed, emphasizing the commission’s commitment to transparency and efficiency in the electoral process.
