GECOM Assures Security for Border Communities Ahead of September 1 Elections

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has confirmed that security measures are being implemented for border communities ahead of the General and Regional Elections on September 1, 2025.

Deputy Chief Elections Officer Aneal Giddings emphasized that areas like Kaikan and Eteringbang in District Seven, as well as communities in Region One, will receive special attention. He noted collaboration with the Guyana Defence Force and the Guyana Police Force to ensure safety on polling day.

Giddings stated that arrangements for security personnel to vote on August 22 are also in place. With 757,690 registered voters across 2,790 polling stations, he expressed confidence in the preparedness for the elections, pending final discussions with security forces.
