GECOM CEO SAYS: Double Voting “Virtually Impossible”

  • News

Chief Elections Officer Vishnu Persaud of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) assured the public that it is “virtually impossible” for anyone to vote twice in the upcoming General and Regional Elections on September 1, 2025, unless there is collusion.

At a press conference, Persaud outlined measures to ensure electoral integrity, including a folio of colored photographs of registered voters to prevent impersonation. He emphasized the stringent use of electoral ink, which is designed to be durable and difficult to remove.

Persaud noted that the ink will require natural drying and urged electors to clean their fingers before application to ensure effectiveness.
