The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has officially declared Dr. Irfaan Ali as President-elect following a meeting of the commission on Saturday night.

According to the results released by GECOM, the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) secured a commanding victory, garnering over 242,000 votes and winning 36 seats in the National Assembly.
The newcomer WIN party received over 109,000 votes, resulting in 16 seats in Parliament. The A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) secured over 77,000 votes, earning 12 seats, while the Forward Guyana Movement (FGM) captured one seat with over 2,000 votes.
All GECOM commissioners nominated by the PPP/C and APNU were present for the announcement of the results from the September 1 elections, marking a significant moment in the country’s political landscape.
