In a Social Media Press Release AFC Leader Nigel Hughes Wrote : The refusal of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) to provide a hard copy of the Preliminary List of Electors (PLE) to any parties other than the two traditional parties sends a clear signal to the population: there are no other contenders in this election except the two older parties.

This action appears to be part of a strategy to ensure that all contestants in the 2025 elections are not treated equally. GECOM’s decision constitutes a further attempt to impair the candidacy of smaller parties.
These developments arise shortly after we learned that the Attorney General, a candidate for the PPP, has been advising GECOM on electoral matters in which his party is a contestant.
Given the millions of dollars that GECOM has received, we question what part of GECOM’s budget would be impacted by providing these lists to all parties, especially when this was done in previous elections.
Once again, GECOM’s decision reveals a particular intent in the conduct of the 2025 elections.
