Georgetown Man Charged for Dangerous Driving After Damaging City Beautification Efforts

Terrence Alstrom has been charged by local authorities following reports of dangerous driving along the Rupert Craig Highway, where he damaged several palm trees planted as part of the city’s beautification initiatives.

Alstrom, a resident of Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Shivani Lalaram at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, where he pleaded guilty to the charge of dangerous driving. He was subsequently fined $30,000 or faced the alternative of six weeks’ imprisonment.

In a statement to the News Room, Alstrom confirmed that he has compensated the Ministry of Public Works for the damages incurred, which totaled $240,000. The incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding reckless driving and its impact on community beautification projects.
