The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) embraced the festive spirit as First Lady Mrs. Arya Ali continued her cherished annual Christmas tradition by visiting the hospital to celebrate the season of giving with patients and their families.

This morning, Mrs. Ali arrived at GPHC bearing care packages and gifts specifically for the hospital’s Christmas babies, a highly anticipated event that brings joy to new mothers delivering during this festive time. So far, five babies—two girls and three boys—have been born at GPHC on Christmas Day. The hospital typically sees between 12 and 15 births on this day each year, making it particularly special for both families and staff.

During her visit to the maternity wards, Mrs. Ali took the time to meet with mothers and their newborns, offering Christmas greetings and heartfelt words of encouragement. Following her maternity ward visit, she also engaged with young patients in the pediatric wards, spreading cheer throughout the facility.

In remarks made during the visit, GPHC’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Robbie Rambarran, expressed gratitude for the First Lady’s ongoing support and highlighted the significance of the Christmas season. “On behalf of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and thank everyone for their service,” he said. “We are in the sector of serving people, and it is really a true honour and privilege to be serving, especially those that are vulnerable.”

Addressing staff and families, the First Lady commended healthcare workers for their dedication. “Today is a day we celebrate renewed hope and the season of giving and sharing. I want to thank the nurses, doctors, and the CEO, and commend them for the important work they do every day. Merry Christmas, and thank you,” Mrs. Ali stated.

GPHC extends sincere thanks to Mrs. Ali for continuing this heartwarming annual tradition and to the corporate partners and donors whose generous contributions have helped bring comfort and joy to the hospital’s children and newborns. The hospital remains committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care while fostering moments of humanity and hope that embody the true spirit of Christmas.
