Glen Lall’s Statement on Guyana’s Oil Industry

News

In a video Statement Publisher Glen Lall Stated : Donald Trump is out there fighting for his country over tariffs, which are essentially taxes on imports. He aims to maximize revenue for America. In Guyana, however, our leaders—the PPP, PNC, and AFC—have instead allowed ExxonMobil and its partners to extract our oil without paying any taxes.

Yes, that’s right: not a single cent. They take our oil, pay little for it, and when they return home, they pay taxes that fund their schools, hospitals, and infrastructure. Meanwhile, we are left with potholes, blackouts, and inadequate healthcare.

Which leader would allow this? Trump taxes the world to benefit his citizens, while our leaders are feeding foreign nations while starving their own people.

Moreover, they’ve handed out 600 oil blocks in the Atlantic—almost all our oil—for just 2% royalty. This is madness! All it would take is for them to demand a minimum 25% royalty and halt new oil projects until we see fair taxation.

Instead, they continue to sign away our future while campaigning for your votes without addressing these issues. On September 1, many will line up to vote for more of the same.

In 2020, our national debt was $3 billion. Now, after five years of oil production, it has risen to over $7 billion, while ExxonMobil walks away with over $12 billion in taxes.

Consider this as you reflect on your future.
