Glenn Lall urges Guyanese 48 days to end Corruption in Guyana

  • News

In a passionate statement, Glenn Lall has urged the people of Guyana to take a stand against the pervasive corruption that has plagued the nation for decades. With just 48 days left until the upcoming elections, he emphasized the urgency of demanding accountability from political leaders.

Lall reflected on his travels, where he witnessed how corrupt leadership across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean has reduced citizens to beggars despite their countries being rich in resources like oil, gold, and diamonds. He pointed out that Guyana is on a similar path, with the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) and the People’s National Congress (PNC) having perfected the art of exploiting national resources for personal gain.

According to Lall, these political parties have treated Guyana’s wealth as if it were their own inheritance, handing over valuable assets to foreign companies for minimal returns. “These foreigners grab our national assets for next to nothing, jump on a plane, and flip those same oil blocks for billions of US dollars,” he said.

Lall called attention to the lack of benefits returned to the Guyanese people, stating, “We are just left standing in the rain while they feast and bank our wealth.” He criticized the current political leadership for their failure to provide basic services and for leaving the population struggling with high living costs, daily blackouts, and inadequate healthcare.

As the elections approach, Lall urged citizens to use their votes wisely. He proposed that voters demand a minimum 25% royalty on oil sales as a condition for their support. “If they refuse, then give them the biggest, boldest middle finger they have ever seen,” he declared.

He concluded with a stark warning: “Silence is consent. Right now, your silence is their license to keep robbing Guyana of your future.” Lall’s message is clear: the time for change is now, and the power lies in the hands of the people.
