A police operation at the Itaballi Checkpoint resulted in the arrest of Winsley Danardo Richards, a 36-year-old gold miner from Farm Village, East Bank Essequibo, for possession of marijuana. The incident occurred around 13:00 hrs yesterday when a police inspector stopped a motor car (#PMM 1186) en route to Puruni Landing in Region #7.

The vehicle, driven by Errol Roberts, had passengers including Richards, Carl Alleyne Wren, and Terrianna Nedd. Initial searches of the car and the other passengers yielded no illegal items. However, Richards’ behavior raised suspicion.

Upon further investigation, police discovered two transparent parcels containing leaves, seeds, and stems believed to be cannabis concealed in the crotch area of Richards’ pants. The narcotics were weighed in his presence, totaling 101.8 grams.
Richards was informed of the offense and subsequently arrested. He was escorted to the Bartica Police Station, where he is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
