Members of the Guyana Police Force stationed at Police Headquarters and Regional Division 4’A’ participated in a significant clean-up initiative this morning, June 8, 2025, at the Kingston Seawall, despite heavy rainfall. The event was part of the government’s ‘National Clean-Up Exercise.’

Led by Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken, along with Deputy Commissioners Ravindradat Budhram, Errol Watts, and Simon McBean, the officers thoroughly cleaned the stretch of road and beachfront from Camp Street to the Marriott Hotel.
In addition to police personnel, members of the corporate sector and local citizens joined the effort, contributing to the clean-up at the popular waterfront area.
Addressing participants at the Seawall, Commissioner Hicken emphasized the importance of the initiative and outlined future plans to tackle littering in the area. “We have achieved our objective, but this is not just a one-time effort. We will engage with the community to address littering around the seawalls. Additionally, we will collaborate with our corporate partners to provide garbage receptacles to encourage proper waste disposal,” he stated.
Hicken further noted that the initiative should extend to all police stations and outposts throughout the country. He announced that weekly inspections will be conducted to ensure cleanliness and welcoming environments for the public. “Starting next week, we will visit every station every Friday. It is essential that we keep our workspaces clean for the community,” he added.
Deputy Commissioners Budhram and McBean also expressed their gratitude to participants for their dedication and commitment to maintaining a clean environment.
This ‘National Enhancement Initiative,’ launched by His Excellency, President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, aims to inspire all citizens of Guyana to contribute to keeping the nation clean.
