Guyana Set to Become ‘Mass Manufacturing and Industrial Hub’ – President Ali

News

President Dr. Irfaan Ali announced that Guyana is positioning itself to become a “mass manufacturing and industrial base” to meet both domestic and international demand. Speaking at the Building Expo 2025, he emphasized the need for foreign investors to shift focus from retail to production.

Ali encouraged international exhibitors to partner with local businesses and bring their manufacturing and industrial plans to Guyana. He assured them of government support and incentives to foster job creation and revenue generation within the country.

Highlighting the rapid expansion of the construction sector, he noted a significant increase in demand for building materials like steel, cement, sand, and paint. Over the past four years, paint production has exceeded 40 million liters, while stone production has nearly doubled to close to 10 million tonnes.

The President stated, “When local production increases, demand for jobs increases, prices come down, and expansion takes place,” underscoring the positive economic impact of this shift toward mass manufacturing.
