Hicken Urges Police to Maintain Professionalism and Neutrality During Elections

  • News

Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken has reminded officers to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain professionalism and neutrality during the upcoming elections.

Speaking at a muster at Police Headquarters, Hicken emphasized that any actions outside established protocols will have consequences. He also announced training for recently promoted ranks at the Police Academy.

The muster precedes the early voting for police and other disciplined services on Friday. Hicken urged officers to uphold the integrity of the Guyana Police Force, especially in public interactions. The government’s recent promotions of over 2,800 ranks have drawn accusations of politicizing the police from the Opposition.
