An Open Letter to Lindeners and All Guyanese

Dear Comrades,

President Irfaan Ali cannot be serious. I plead with you: do not be swayed by this web of lies and broken promises.

In 2022, the United Nations reported that approximately 47% of Guyanese were living in poverty. Rather than addressing this grim reality, the PPP/C administration took offense and attempted to discredit the findings, despite the fact that these conditions are visible in every region of our country.

Let me remind you; it was under the PPP/C government that, beginning in 2020, the cost of food and basic necessities skyrocketed. Yet, the administration has failed, both then and now, to implement real, practical solutions to combat the rising cost of living. Just take a walk through your nearest market, and you will see it for yourself.

In January 2023, I tabled a motion in the National Assembly, calling for the development of a comprehensive national plan to tackle the high cost of living (HCL). Rather than acknowledging the urgency and merit of this motion, the government colluded with the Speaker to suppress debate—choosing politics over people.

Now, after nearly five years in office, with only 28 days left before the 2025 General and Regional Elections, President Ali came to Linden on Sunday, August 3, 2025, with empty rhetoric and vague promises about addressing poverty. Where was this so-called plan before now? Why unveil it only at a rally, and not before the people or Parliament? This is nothing more than a political soundbite, and Guyanese must not take the bait.

Lindeners, you are wise and resilient. Do not sell your votes cheaply. Remember the serpent that deceived Eve; be vigilant.

Ask yourself, when was the last time President Ali visited Albouystown, Charlestown, West Ruimveldt, or any struggling community to witness the reality of life in an oil-rich nation? While he and his inner circle enjoy lavish lifestyles, building hotels and luxury apartments, ordinary Guyanese are struggling to afford three meals a day. They don’t understand our struggle because they have never lived it.

I say to you, my fellow Guyanese: we must stop this train before it runs our country off a cliff. Guyana must be saved from the grip, arrogance, and waste (GAW) of the PPP/C.

That opportunity is coming on September 1, 2025. On that day, let us sound the trumpet of change with our vote. Reject the PPP/C. Elect APNU. Improve your standard of living. Reclaim your future.

VOTE THEM OUT!

Yours sincerely,
Annette Ferguson
