Improvements in School Transport for Region One

News

President Irfaan Ali has announced significant upgrades to strengthen school transport and electricity supply for children in several hinterland communities in Region One. During his address to residents in Waramuni on August 13, 2025, he acknowledged the ongoing challenges in accessing electricity and pledged to provide a generator for the community by the end of the year.

In addition to the generator, a new school bus, requested by the community, will be delivered to Para village by the end of September. This initiative aims to address transportation challenges faced by schoolchildren in the region.

Leaders from Waramuni, Manawari, and Haimacabra emphasized the urgent need for water transportation for students. In response, President Ali has directed the regional chairman to collaborate with local boat builders to construct three boats, each designed with a protective shed for the comfort and safety of the children during travel. Construction of the boats is expected to begin soon, with completion anticipated within eight weeks.

These initiatives are part of the government’s broader commitment to bridging the gap between coastal and hinterland communities, focusing on improving education and quality of life for all children.
