In a violent confrontation between two men from Sophia, Georgetown, one sustained a fractured jaw, while the other suffered a fractured skull during an alcohol-fueled fight. The incident occurred around 12:30 AM on Saturday at a supermarket located at 111 Miles, Mahdia, Potaro-Siparuni.
According to police reports, a 27-year-old man from North Sophia and a 33-year-old man from ‘B’ Field, Sophia, were consuming alcoholic beverages when an argument erupted between them. The dispute quickly escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in injuries to both individuals.
They were initially treated at the Mahdia District Hospital before being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for further medical care. The younger man, who sustained a fractured jaw, was discharged the same day but was subsequently arrested and is currently in police custody. Meanwhile, the 33-year-old remains hospitalized with a fractured skull and is under police guard.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the supermarket as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.
