Jagdeo Addresses Racist Propaganda, Emphasizes Unity and Opportunities

General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo declared the party’s commitment to uniting the country and combating racist propaganda during his weekly press conference on Thursday.

Jagdeo emphasized that the PPP is dedicated to providing equal opportunities for all citizens, from employment initiatives to scholarships. “We want all of our people to progress… We have plans for that future, and we know what we are about,” he stated.

His comments followed concerns raised after his recent visit to Region 10, where he encountered racist rhetoric. “We have been very clear that this is something we will fight against. The people in Linden are turned off by this vile propaganda,” Jagdeo remarked.

For months, Jagdeo has voiced his frustrations regarding what he perceives as attempts to undermine the PPP’s efforts to promote unity. He accused the APNU AFC opposition of focusing on race-based politics, which he believes is detrimental to the nation’s progress.

Jagdeo reiterated the PPP’s vision for an inclusive Guyana, urging all citizens to reject divisive narratives and work together for a better future.
