Jagdeo Announces No New Cash Grants Before Elections

  • News

Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C), stated that the government will not distribute any additional cash grants before the upcoming elections. However, he assured citizens that if the party is re-elected, they can expect more cash grants and increases.

“I can assure you there will be lots of cash grants after the elections, but not before,” Jagdeo emphasized during a press conference on Thursday. He reiterated that the party’s manifesto will include commitments to cash grants and increases.

During recent consultations on the PPP/C manifesto, it was announced that the party plans to expand cash grants, including the “Because We Care” grant for schoolchildren, and to increase the amounts for various key groups.

Jagdeo also reiterated the PPP’s commitment to reducing the cost of living and providing citizens with more disposable income by lowering taxes and increasing wages, salaries, and other benefits.
