Fox News Reports : Jake Larson, a World War II veteran known affectionately as “Papa Jake,” has passed away at the age of 102. His granddaughter, McKaela Larson, shared the news on social media, expressing the family’s grief and appreciation for the support they have received.
Larson played a crucial role in planning the D-Day invasion and stormed Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. Despite his remarkable military history, he became an unlikely social media sensation after his granddaughter created a TikTok account for him, where he amassed over 1.2 million followers. This platform helped share his stories, culminating in the release of his autobiography.
In her heartfelt Instagram post, McKaela wrote, “Our beloved Papa Jake has passed away… Please know, he went peacefully and was even cracking jokes til the very end.” She requested privacy for the family as they process their loss.
She added, “I am so thankful to have shared my Papa Jake with you all. You meant the world to him. When the time is right, I will continue to share Papa Jake’s stories and keep his memory alive.”
