Jamaica Observer Reports : Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Keshane Stewart, a 15-year-old student at Knox College. His death is currently classified as a suspected case of suicide following the ingestion of several pills on Monday.
According to a police report, the incident occurred around 2:45 PM at Stewart’s home in the Fine Grass district. His mother was present when she received a phone call from a secretary at the school, informing her that Keshane would be repeating grade nine. The call was on speakerphone, and shortly after, Keshane went into a bedroom.
His mother later heard coughing and found him on the ground with pills nearby. He was immediately rushed to Percy Junor Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his condition while undergoing treatment.
Police are currently awaiting an autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death. The community is in shock as they mourn the loss of a young life, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
