James Bond Declares APNU’s Loss of Youth Vote and Region Four

  • News

News Room Guyana Reports : James Bond, former chief campaign strategist for the PNC-led APNU coalition, has made a bold declaration that the party has lost both the youth vote and Region Four. In a Facebook Live session on Thursday, Bond laid bare the internal turmoil within the APNU and projected a grim electoral future.

“The youth are 100% behind the PPP,” Bond stated emphatically. “Region Four? That’s gone red.”

Once a key figure in shaping APNU’s campaigns in Georgetown and the East Bank, Bond is now actively campaigning for the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C). He has been seen engaging with residents in various communities, including East Coast Demerara and Georgetown.

Bond backed his claims with research conducted by his team since January 2025, asserting, “APNU is too splintered. The horse has already bolted.” He estimates that APNU will struggle to secure more than 80,000 votes in Region Four—a significant drop from previous elections where they garnered over 100,000 votes.

He attributed this decline to internal divisions and strategic missteps, particularly a lack of engagement in East Indian-majority areas and the fragmentation of their core support base. He noted the emergence of splinter groups, such as the Forward Guyana Movement and the Assembly for Liberty and Justice, as contributors to the APNU’s decline.

“The APNU vote in Region Four is split into four and five different parts,” Bond explained. “They have not worked hard enough. They haven’t even shown up.”

He pointed out that the PPP has been effectively dominating grassroots efforts, holding meetings in every community while APNU has apparently ceased engagement. “You can’t win that way,” he remarked.

Bond highlighted specific communities where the PPP has made significant gains, including Melanie, Four Miles, Haslington, Great Diamond, and even traditional opposition strongholds like Grove and South Georgetown. He noted ongoing outreach efforts in Nabacalis and Beterverwagting, observing an undeniable swell of support for the PPP.

“What’s happening in Region Four is stunning,” he said. “It’s PPP red—and it’s not just about race anymore. Young people are making a values-based decision.”

He dismissed any notions that APNU still holds a chance in Region Four, labeling such claims as baseless. “There’s no path for APNU in Region Four,” he declared. “If they get 70,000 votes, they’ve done well.”

“They’ve lost the young people. They’ve lost the region. This is not gaff,” Bond concluded.
