Keliza Smith Sprints to Bronze at Islamic Solidarity Games

Guyana’s sprint star, Keliza Smith, showcased her athletic prowess by earning a bronze medal in the Women’s 100m final at the Islamic Solidarity Games, held on Tuesday at the Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Stadium. Smith clocked an impressive time of 11.59 seconds, narrowly missing her season-best of 11.45 seconds, after previously winning her heat.

In addition to Smith’s success, national quarter-miler Aaliyah Abrams also made her mark by advancing to the Women’s 400m final, finishing third in Heat Two with a time of 53.01 seconds. She is set to compete in the medal race from lane eight.

Guyana will further be represented in the Men’s 4x100m relay final, where the national team will run out of lane two as the Games progress.

The performances highlight the strong showing of Guyanese athletes on the international stage, with hopes for more medals as the competition continues.
