In a devastating turn of events, Vanlisha Warrick’s life changed forever with a single phone call. The single mother residing at Parcel 362, Mocha Sandreef, was at her mother’s small salon preparing to serve a client when her sister-in-law delivered the shocking news that her home was engulfed in flames. The incident occurred around 5:30 PM on Thursday.

By the time Warrick arrived at the scene, her wooden house had already been consumed by fire, and everything she owned was reduced to ashes. As a full-time Tuberculosis Outreach Worker at the Suddie Public Hospital, she had tirelessly worked to provide a comfortable life for her seven-year-old child. In an instant, she lost her refrigerator, furniture, washing machine, clothing, important documents, and countless personal belongings, with nothing left to salvage.
In the aftermath of the blaze, however, Warrick is holding onto hope. Fortunately, her child was with her at the time of the fire, which she now considers a blessing in disguise. “I keep telling myself that as long as we are alive, we can start over,” she said. “It is hard, but I have to be strong for my child.”
Currently staying at her mother’s home, Warrick is coming to terms with her sudden loss while looking toward the future with determination. Although uncertain about her next steps, she firmly believes that better days are ahead. “I don’t know how, but I know I will rebuild. God is in control,” she expressed.
Regional Chairman Devin Mohan and Deputy Regional Executive Officer Omesh Sasenaryan have visited the scene to assess the situation, and efforts are underway to assist the young mother as she embarks on the challenging journey of rebuilding her life from the ashes while clinging to hope, faith, and resilience.
