Linden Man Found Dead in Home: Investigation Underway

Carlton Jacobs, a 67-year-old laborer from Obama Drive, Amelia’s Ward, was discovered dead in his home on Sunday morning. Authorities believe he passed away between 4:10 PM on Saturday and 6:40 AM on Sunday.

Jacobs lived alone in an unfinished two-storey wooden and concrete house situated in a partly fenced yard. He reportedly suffered from asthma.

Collin Ceres, a 40-year-old contractor from South Amelia’s Ward and a friend of Jacobs, visited him on Saturday around 4:00 PM. During this visit, Ceres provided Jacobs with a small Coca-Cola and a Smalta, spending approximately ten minutes with him. Ceres noticed that Jacobs appeared unwell, with bruising around his left eye and forehead. Despite Ceres offering to take him to the hospital, Jacobs declined.

Upon returning to Jacobs’ home at 6:40 AM on Sunday, Ceres found his friend lying motionless in front of the house and promptly alerted the police.

Upon police arrival, Jacobs’ body was located approximately five feet from the front of the house, lying on his back with the doors open. An examination revealed abrasions on his left eye, which was swollen, as well as old bruises on his forehead, left hand, and left side of his abdomen.

Crime scene investigators documented the scene through video and photographs. Notably, no blood stains were found in or around the house or yard. However, during a search of the premises, officers discovered 269 grams of cannabis in Jacobs’ storeroom.

Jacobs’ body was transported to the Linden Hospital Complex, where a doctor pronounced him dead. It has since been moved to Pensioner Funeral Home, awaiting an autopsy.

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jacobs’ death. Further inquiries will focus on both the cause of death and the presence of cannabis found at the scene.
